3rd BUSINESS MEETING June 5, 2007
Present: Jim Mancuso (moderator) (Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary—Northeast Campus), Joy Niswander and Elizabeth Siekawitch (Elim Bible Institute), Paul Spaeth (St. Bonaventure University), Father Cyprian Alexandrou and Fr. Vladimir Tsurikov (Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary), William Kanalley (Siena College).
Welcome and Introductions President Jim Mancuso convened the meeting at 10:40 a.m. in the reading room of the library of the Holy Trinity Orthodox Seminary (Jordanville, NY). Each person introduced herself/himself, her/his institutional affiliation, and her/his institutional role.
Lecture on Russian Orthodox Church History Fr. Tsurikov gave a very informative lecture, complete with documents, books and other objects on the history of the Seminary as related to the history of the Russian Orthodox Church, both in Russia and abroad, and explained the unique, crucial role that the Seminary has played in preserving the culture and heritage of the Church.
Lunch and Tour of the Seminary Many thanks to the HTO Seminary for an excellent lunch, and a fascinating tour of the buildings and grounds, including a demonstration of how icons are created, and a tour of the exhibits room and the church on the campus.
Business Since a quorum was not present, little actual business was conducted. The following organizational details were accomplished: $ The Spring 2009 meeting will be hosted by St. Bonaventure University (Olean, NY). $ President Mancuso will ask Northeastern Seminary to host the June 2008 meeting, so that we can tour its new library facilities. $ Bill Kanalley volunteered to take over as Treasurer to fill the slot vacated by Gretchen Pearson; President Mancuso appointed him as such. $ No new action was taken on the topic of Cooperative Lending Agreements.
